Dorthy J. (Jones) Ranes, 83, of Belding, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Dorthy was born on December 28, 1933 outside Salyersville, KY, the daughter of Columbus and Myrtle (Patrick) Wireman. Dorthy loved playing cards, dice, finding new recipes to try, and tending to her flowers. She hosted an annual Labor Day party that was always well attended and enjoyed by many family and friends. In recent years, Dorthy was active with Tops #458 in Greenville. She was passionately involved in supporting her grandchildren and great- grandchildren's sporting and school events, traveling many miles to be there. Dorthy was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She worked hard her whole life and was proud to call Belding her home. Dorthy retired from Zondervan Publishing in Grand Rapids. Dorthy married Robert Ranes on July 11, 1997. She is loved and survived by her husband Robert, her children; Pam Miller of Greenville, Rod (Shelle) Jones of Belding, Carla (John) Scharaswak of Stanton, Kathy (Rob) Ranes of Caledonia, stepchildren; Lynne Riley, Lisa Atchison and Laura Bassett, siblings; Helen Davis, Betty (Larry) Rummel, Dennis (Carol-her best friend) Wireman, Patricia Cozort, Leroy (Mary Beth) Wireman, Berniece VanBennekom, and Dorthy's many amazing grandchildren, great grandchildren (and great-great), her nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and cherished. Dorthy was an important center to this family and she will be terribly missed. Dorthy was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, daughters; Vicky Franklin and Kimberly Jones, siblings; Bonnie Kennedy, Lena Carapia and Barbara Fuller. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2017 at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be noon-1:00 PM at the church. Private interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. Funeral care has been entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to Belding Library or B Foundation.
